Funded Places
Funded Early Learning for 2 Year Olds

This is funding for childcare sessions for 15 hours per week, 38 weeks of the year from the term after their 2nd birthday and is available to families who are accessing certain benefits and meet the relevant criteria. It is not an entitlement for every 2 year old.

Funded Early Learning for 3 and 4 Year Olds (Nursery Education Funding)

All 3 and 4-year-olds in England already get 15 hours a week, or 570 hours a year of free early education. If their parents are living and working in England, 3 and 4-year-olds may be entitled to 30 hours free childcare. An extra 570 hours of free childcare a year, so 1140 hours in total. 30 hours free childcare is available from September 2017.

About Mini Treasures in Merryfield

Mini Treasures, Merryfield is a Ofsted registered nursery and is conveniently located less than 5 minutes from Camberwell Green. Our purpose built nursery opened in 2012 and benefits from brand new facilities and provides wraparound services to parents and the local community.

Inside, our nursery has four large inviting rooms. The bright and natural rooms are well equipped and provide a safe, stimulating environment where your child can enjoy growing into a confident, independent and social young person. We also have our own sensory room and computer room.

Each classroom has its own outdoor play area surfaced with soft rubber, artificial grass area, tarmac for riding bikes and digging areas. We have a multitude of resources to enable children to gain as much fresh air as possible. We also have a sensory garden where children can be engaged in various planned activities in all weathers.

Safeguarding the children in our nursery is one of our utmost priorities and we offer state of the art security systems. Complete intercom systems and CCTV cameras are standard in all rooms ensuring that your child's safety is paramount at all times.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a dynamic and flexible approach that supports every child, irrespective of their age, stage or ability.

Our Philosophy

To support us in meeting this mission, our approach to learning is as inclusive as possible and we have created a unique philosophy that combines thinking from Reggio Emilia, Curiosity Approach, and Forest School curricula.

By blending indoor and outdoor classrooms in a home-away-from-home environment, we are able to create a space where children feel empowered and ready to learn.

Who We Are

Mini Treasures got its start over 10 years ago by owner Sharon Siwoku when she was looking for a nursery for her own child and wanted to create a space that didn’t simply help children to hit developmental milestones, but saw them as independent and curious little learners.

“When my son was one year old, I was looking for a quality and family-orientated setting where every child would be seen as an individual and able to thrive in a home-from-home environment where children's imagination and curiosity are enhanced by the educators and the environment.”

- Sharon Sikwou

As a small group of nurseries, each of our settings has been carefully designed to foster early learning in a fun and safe environment. We strive to make every day engaging for children, using a combination of Reggio Emilia and Curiosity Approach thinking to provide an environment that gives children the opportunity to use natural and authentic resources to enhance their learning.

We believe our innovative approach gives children a bright and positive start in life as we encourage both exploration and discovery as well as emotional intelligence and building friendships.

Merging Teaching and Childcare

We believe that it’s never too early to start learning and that it’s vital to always present opportunities for children to learn and grow as soon as they start at our setting.

By developing our programs with childcare specialists and taking inspiration from a number of philosophies, including Reggio Emilia, Curiosity Approach, and Forest Schools, we’ve been able to hone in on what makes early education a success and created a learning program that allows our children to enter school seamlessly.

At Mini Treasures, we combine teaching and childcare to foster an environment of love and support that also inspires children to have a love for learning.
